Spring in Montana never arrives quietly, and that’s part of its charm. It shows up with surprises, with promise, and with a reminder we sometimes forget: change is constant, and often, it’s where beauty begins. Spring has arrived at Magpie, too—and with it, a new chapter we’re incredibly excited to share. What started as a cocktail bar with a small food program has evolved into a full-fledged restaurant—one that we are deeply proud of. That transformation wouldn’t have been possible without the creativity and drive of Chef Charles, who helped us reimagine what Magpie could be. As he moves on to his next adventure, we’re filled with gratitude for the flavor, energy, and perspective he brought to our kitchen. And now, we’re thrilled to introduce you to the next
exciting phase of Magpie. Beginning Tuesday, May 13th, we’ll welcome Chef Chase Cardoza as our new Executive Chef. A Red Lodge native with deep family roots and a passion for elevated cuisine, Chef Chase brings the perfect mix of talent and heart to our team. His experience in fine dining and his love for this community make him uniquely equipped to lead us forward—and we couldn’t be more excited to have him home. (Check out his bio below.) We believe this new season will bring something truly special—creative dishes, thoughtful execution, and a renewed energy that celebrates everything you already love about Magpie, while opening the door to something even more extraordinary. Chef Charles’ final service will be Saturday, May 10th, and we’d love for you to join us in honoring his contributions and celebrating the road ahead.
