Hello Magpie Family,

Here in the heart of the mountain town of Red Lodge, we co-created Magpie—it's a sanctuary, a community, a part of our very soul. It’s true, Mike and I stepped into this venture with only my two years of hospitality experience, gained during my time at MacKenzie River Pizza in Great Falls during my senior year, and then transferring to the Bozeman location in 1997. Admittedly, we were novices in the industry. But, what we lacked in experience, we made up for with passion and the guidance of an incredible mentor, who we'll introduce shortly.

Our journey to creating Magpie began during some of the most challenging times of our lives, as we faced the realities of our child's battle with cystic fibrosis. Countless hours were spent in the sterile confines of hospital rooms, far from the comfort of home. It was in these harrowing moments that we understood the profound impact of having a safe, welcoming space. Hospitality became our solace, our escape from the relentless pace and pressures of hospital life.

Though our experiences were deeply personal, the need for such sanctuaries is universal. This realization ignited a dream within us: to create a place in our own community where anyone, regardless of their burdens or joys, could find a moment of peace and a sense of belonging.

Our vision for Magpie was inspired by the kindness we experienced at Harper & Madison, by sweet Joanie, she was a beacon of warmth and familiarity amidst our chaos. From Joanie, we learned the essence of true hospitality—it's not merely about serving food and drinks but about crafting moments of joy and relief for weary souls.

Our space is filled nightly with familiar faces, embodying the spirit of community that Mike and I cherish so deeply. In a world where genuine human connection is increasingly rare, we hope that Magpie stands as a vibrant reminder of what we can create together. It's not just a place to unwind, but a space where you can find tranquility and connection, where every interaction is infused with gratitude and respect. Welcome home.

🎵 Our Shameless Music Support Plea 🎵

At One Legged Magpie, we are deeply committed to elevating the live music scene in our town. Each concert is not just an event; it's a celebration of the incredible talent and the collective joy that music brings to our lives.

However, to keep these magical nights alive, we truly rely on your participation. Over the past year, we’ve noticed a dip in ticket sales, which has led us to reassess the community's interest in supporting these live music events going forward. Your presence at these shows is crucial—it's what fuels our ability to bring top-tier musicians to our stage. We hope to see you there!
