April | 2026 When Mike and I first envisioned Magpie, we dreamed of creating a place that was as farm-to-table as we could make it here in Montana—a table filled with food brought from infancy to harvest by the hardworking hands of people in our own community. It is one of those aspects of Magpie we have rarely spoken about, not because it was ever unimportant, but because it has always felt so naturally woven into who we are. But the truth is, when you join us at Magpie, you are supporting far more than just our team. From the very beginning, supporting local has mattered deeply to us—not simply because it is good business, but because we believe small communities are built stronger when we support one another. Montana Flour & Grains, supplying the flour behind our pizza, beignets, desserts, and pasta

Greybull Valley Produce, growing the Bibb lettuce and basil you’ll find throughout our dishes We hope you’ll take the time to seek out and support some of these incredible businesses beyond Magpie as well. Many sell directly to the public, locally or at farmers markets throughout the state, and each is doing beautiful work in their own right. And while these partnerships help shape what arrives at your table, none of it would matter without the team inside these walls who turn those ingredients into something meaningful each day. The more Magpie grows, the more I realize how many stories there are behind what happens here—stories of the people, partnerships, and hard work that make this place possible. We want to do a better job sharing those stories. Moving forward, we intend to begin introducing more of the people who shape Magpie—through this newsletter, but through social media as well. While social media can often feel like noise, my hope is that we can share there in a thoughtful way—an honest reflection of the community behind this place, rather than simply promotion. As I work to become more regular on social media, I want it to capture what truly makes it feel like home: the faces, the laughter, the quiet conversations over candlelight, and the joy that gathers around these tables night after night. So this Wednesday, we invite you to join us for Community Night. The Alex Nauman Trio will be filling the room with jazz, and photographer Daniel Sullivan will be joining us from Billings to help capture the warmth, energy, and spirit of the community that has grown within these walls—to document what we have the privilege of witnessing here each evening. We hope you’ll come celebrate with us and be part of telling the story of what Magpie has become: not simply a restaurant, but a place shaped, softened, and made meaningful by the people who gather here. xo,
