Happy New Year Magpie Family,One Legged Magpie has always been more than a place to share meals—it’s where joy lingers in the air, where connections take root, and where moments of community remind us what it means to belong. But even in this haven of joy, I’ve felt the weight that seems to press on our world—a heaviness that whispers that the problems are too vast, too tangled, too far-reaching to face. And perhaps they are. But giving up isn’t the answer. Instead, we start where our hands can reach—close to home, where the smallest ripples of kindness and intention can swell into waves that transform our community. As someone who’s dreamed big (some might say endlessly), I’ve long believed in the transformative power of connection. Since our visit to Vancouver, I’ve been reflecting on ways to cultivate more joy—not just for myself but for our community as well. I’m thrilled to introduce my newest project, one that will take root right here at Magpie: Two for Joy. These in-person gatherings will create a space to celebrate hope, share stories that inspire, and remind us all that joy is more than a fleeting emotion—it’s a practice, one with the power to shape our lives and ripple out into the world around us. This is just the beginning of what I believe will be a beautiful journey for all of us—a journey rooted in connection, joy, and the small, powerful ways we can make a difference together.
