One Legged Magpie (OLM) is a versatile space, offering various private dining/event options, including full buyouts of our main bar and patio as well as the rental of our 5,000 sq ft ballroom and event space. We also have an off-site liquor catering license. Whatever the size of your gathering, we will work with you to create a special event.
Our main bar is the perfect venue for an intimate sit-down dinner for up to 36 people. We can also accommodate a stand up, cocktail-style reception for up to 80. Our ballroom can accommodate up to 225 seated and 400 standing guests.
In order for us to reserve your event space, we require a deposit. Your deposit will vary depending on the type of booking and must be paid by a credit card. This deposit is non-refundable. All bills must be settled in full prior to the closure of your event, checks are not accepted, please be prepared with either cash or a credit card.

Dinner:
Sunday- Thursday 4:00-10:00 PM $1500 plus resort tax and 20% gratuity*
Friday-Saturday 4:00-10:00 PM $2000 plus resort tax and 20% gratuity*
DINNER BUYOUT:
One Legged Magpie bar is available for your private event of 36 seated/ 80 cocktail receptions. In order to close the restaurant to the public, we must ensure that the following food and beverage minimums are met:
Off Season Dinner:
Sunday- Thursday 4:00-10:00 PM $2000 plus resort tax and 20% gratuity*
Friday-Saturday 4:00-10:00 PM $3500 plus resort tax and 20% gratuity*
On Season Dinner:
Sunday- Thursday 4:00-10:00 PM $3500 plus resort tax and 20% gratuity*
Friday-Saturday 4:00-10:00 PM $5000 plus resort tax and 20% gratuity*
BALLROOM RENTAL
Cost of renting the ballroom for one day and night is subject to the season and size of the party.
If there is no event scheduled the day before, which is usually the case, there is no extra cost for coming in a day early to set up and decorate.
In addition, we require that you guarantee a $750.00 bar. This may be met by 2 means, or a combination of both:
Through hosting an “open bar” for your guests for whatever amount you desire (please remember that a minimum 20% gratuity for the bartender will be added on top of the “open bar” bill),
And/or whatever amounts are spent when there is a “cash bar.”
There will be a cleaning deposit of $250.00, which will be returned to you if the room is left as clean as you found it. If you want us to do the clean-up, we will be happy to do so for the $250.00.
Our restaurant would love to cater the food for your event. The cost-per-plate will be determined by your choices of what you would like for the menu. To arrange this, you need to talk with the kitchen staff which will be happy to serve you.
If we are unable to provide whatever you want for your menu and/or if you choose to use an outside caterer, please let them know that there is a $2.25/person served (i.e. per plate) fee for use of the kitchen and stoves. There is also a $200/damage deposit to be paid prior to the event which will be returned upon our finding that the kitchen was left as clean as they found it.
Other things you’ll want to know about using the One Legged Magpie Ballroom for your event.
The dancing/seating area is about 3300 square feet. In addition, there is a stage for a band (there are 6 separate electrical circuits for use by the band). The stage area may also be used as an elevated seating area for the head table. (There are red crushed-velvet curtains which can be closed behind the head table which makes a beautiful backdrop.).
At the opposite end of the room there is a full service bar with taps for beer.
We have enough tables and chairs to seat approximately 225 people at tables. The use of tables and chairs is included in the room rental cost. (Table linens, etc. will be dealt with in the catering costs.).
If we cater the food, the place settings will be provided. If an outside caterer is used, the caterer must provide their own place settings (or rent them from us). The same is true of the linens used for the tables.
The ballroom is not suitable for groups of less than 100 people. It is so large, that it looks like the crowd is very sparse and the event ill-attended. It is also not economically feasible for us to run a bar with less than 100 attendees.
Decorating is the responsibility of the renter, as is un-decorating. Please leave the room as you found it. You may not, without prior permission, use staples, nails or any other penetrating fastener to secure things to the walls or beams.
You may not use small confetti or glitter on the tables. The reason: our hardwood floors are old and have some small spaces between some planks which makes it impossible to clean up.
You may not use any tape on the walls that will, when removed, also remove paint. (There are some low-adhesive painter’s tapes that work fine and don’t damage the walls.).
Off Season Ballroom Rental:

Friday-Saturday 4:00-12:00 PM $1000 plus resort tax and 20% gratuity*
On Season Ballroom Rental:
Sunday- Thursday 4:00-12:00 PM $1500 plus resort tax and 20% gratuity*
Friday-Saturday 4:00-12:00 PM $2000 plus resort tax and 20% gratuity*
You and your guest will have the room for the entire evening. Requests for floral arrangements, a specialty dessert, or any personal decorations must be made in advance. AV equipment is also available for rent with advanced notice.
*These prices are for the room rental only. Your bill will also be subject to the agreed upon bar minimum as well as our resort sales tax of 4% and 20% gratuity.
LUNCH EVENTS:
OLM is not currently open for lunch service. However, if you are interested in booking a meeting or private luncheon for up to 36 people, please contact our event coordinator, Kat at 406-210-1143, we would be happy to design a party that meets your needs. Luncheon party hours are 11:30- 3:00PM.
One other rule that must be observed: It is against Montana State Law for any alcoholic beverage to be served or consumed that has not been purchased through the holder of the liquor license (the bar). This will be strictly enforced. If you wish to have something special which we normally don’t carry, we will be happy to order it in for you.

OLM is not responsible for lost or stolen articles and no bailment relationship is created during your event. Please safeguard your valuables.
You hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless OLM from and against any and all liabilities, clams, expenses, losses and damages (including reasonable attorney’s fees and costs arising out of or related to your guests’ negligence or willful acts, including but not limited to the destruction of property or bodily harm caused by the consumption of alcohol products.)
This agreement will be governed by the laws in effect in the State of Montana without regard to its choice of law principles on the contrary. Neither party will commence or prosecute any suit, proceeding or claim to enforce the provisions of this agreement, nor otherwise arising under or by reason of this agreement other than in the federal and state courts situated in Red Lodge, Montana. The parties hereby consent to the jurisdiction and venue of such courts in connection with any action arising under or in connection with this agreement.
This agreement, together with the exhibits (e.g. menus, etc….) that are incorporated herein by this reference, constitutes that the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof, and may not be modified except by a writing signed by both you and an owner/manager of OLM.
This agreement may be executed in any number of counterparts and each such counterpart will be deemed an original instrument, but all such counterparts together will constitute one agreement. To expedite the process of entering into this agreement, the parties acknowledge that executed copies of this agreement transmitted by facsimile will be equivalent to original documents until such time as original documents are completely executed and delivered.
